How To Break In New Shoes For The Most Comfort?

The object is to get your new shoes to be comfortable for wearing as long as you want while doing whatever you bought the shoes for. Let’s start with what you must not do.

Do not wear new shoes to work if you stand on your feet all day.

Do not set off on a long walk wearing new shoes.

Do not wear heavier or lighter socks than usual while breaking in new shoes.

Shoes must be comfortable, or you will be miserable all day. Breaking shoes in starts before you buy them. Wear the hosiery you will normally be wearing with the shoes. Do not buy shoes that will stretch to fit your feet. Shoes should fit the day you buy them. Do not buy shoes that pinch or rub. This is a new relationship you are beginning in the shoe store; do not enter into it thinking your partner-the shoes-will change to fit what you want out of the relationship, because they won’t.

Select shoes which fit you at that moment. Now, take the shoes home and wear them around the house for a little while. If they are comfortable, try a longer time, extending the wearing time on each occasion you wear the shoes. If they rib your heels, take them off and flex the back part in your hands to soften it and reshape it. Repeat this as often a necessary. If the shoes rub a specific part of your foot, consider purchasing shoe trees with stretching attachments to push out the offending place.

If the shoes are hurting your feet, take them off for a while and resume the breaking in process the next day. I am told custom made shoes never need breaking in and last a lifetime; if you have a thousand dollars to invest in shoes at one time that is. I’ve been told it’s worth it; I just never had the money myself.

How Am I To Break In My New Shoes?

How to break in new shoes. We all get to buy new shoes every now and then and the excitement is always like it’s the first time we ever bought shoes. There was the window shopping trying to identify a pair of shoes that we like, then saving up for the shoe and finally going to the store and trying out the shoe.

If it fits, then we go ahead and buy it. Unfortunately sometimes the shoe that we love so much and have saved up for so long for, is at first stiff and does not fit as well as it maybe should. The toes squeeze, the foot is closely hugged and we walk funny at first. Until the shoe stretches out and finally conforms to our own particular feet do we finally sigh with relief.

Some of the few things one could do so the new shoe fits well is to wear it at home when seated on the sofa and don’t have to walk around. This helps to stretch the shoe especially at the points that squeeze or pinch and will make the experience a little more bearable when next we need to walk. Let the shoes sit in the sun for a while. Since the shoe is still brand new and straight from the store, it is still stiff. The sun’s warm rays will relax the shoe and allow it to be abit more flexible and will stretch out abit. Let someone else wear it for you for a while. There are people whose feet will easily conform to the shoe and can assist in stretching it out and relaxing it for you. Just be careful though, with this method.

Why Are Men Shoes and Women Shoes So Different?

Men and women basically operate differently. Men are more practical and require functionality. Women tend to be aware of fashion trends and looks and would prefer clothing items that are trendy and fashionable rather than practical and functional clothing wear. It is such difference that differentiate men from women when it comes to shoes.

When it comes to shoes, the situation is more or less the same. Men’s shoes are designed for very few occasions. Office wear, sports, outdoors or open shoes. Period. Women on the other hand, due to their nature have a much wider scope when it comes to shoes. There are work shoes, evening wear shoes, shopping shoes, beach wear, big event shoes and shoes for all occasions. It is with such demands that shoes for men and women are different.

Men’s shoes are pretty expensive as they are built to last. The shoes are created for functionality such that the wearer is comfortable and able to move freely and willingly. So a good male shoe will be simple, yet built of expensive, lasting material. Most men will thus own just a few pairs of shoes, most of which are for office wear.

Women on the other hand own a lot of pairs of shoes. This is because their needs are many and fashion demands they wear different shoes with different outfits and for different occasions, unlike men. Women’s shoes therefore tend to be cheaper in general though there are quite a few very expensive women’s shoes for the high end market.

What Are Those Special Considererations When Buying Shoes?

What special things are there to consider when buying shoes? Proper sizing is of utmost importance when buying a new pair of shoes. The size of your feet can change over time. For example, may women find that pregnancy causes a lasting change in foot size. It is best to shop at a specialized shoe store or in a department store’s shoe department where the employees are available to size your feet for you.

Keep in mind that your feet may swell during the day, giving you a different reading between morning and night. Although some effort has been made internationally to standardize shoe sizes, some variation can be found, so how the new shoes feel is as important as the size printed on them.

You are well advised to wear the shoes at least for several minutes as you assess fit, walking both on carpeted and hard surfaces. Make sure you are wearing the kind of socks or pantyhose you’d normally wear with that pair. Assess whether the shoes fit both in their length and their width across the toe box and the heel. Any slippage should be a concern, as it will quickly lead to skin irritation. If you wear orthotic shoe inserts or intend to use comfort inserts, these should be inserted into the shoe during the try out period.

Though the shoe is affordable and looks good, the shoe surface is such that it needs a lot of work and plenty of suede cream to keep it looking good and shiny. On the other hand some shoes are very low maintenance and require little more than a regular brushing or dusting.

Those famous words.

“I did not have three thousand pairs of shoes, I had one thousand and sixty.” – Imelda Marcos

I am seriously sure she was just informing everyone that she was a little off her first goal. Really, like three thousand is enough.

Shoes may seem so insignificant but actually mean soo much to many women.
